Once Upon A Time

Early days...

Hotel Montana was opened for the first time on Christmas Eve in 1964 by Vittorio Barbieri and his mother Tina. They were born in Bologna and raised up in Trento, where they both worked at Hotel Bristol, at that time one of the most important hotels in Trento. While looking for a perfect place to open their brand new hotel, they fell in love with Monte Bondone.

Back in the day, there was nothing on this mountain: no houses, no ski slopes, no people. They were pioneers, and they really had to build up this place from scratch. Vittorio worked with architect Giulio Dolzani to spot out the best solution on this side of Cima Palon. At that time, hotels were characterized by low buildings and long corridors, so the idea of a hexagonal tower open on all sides was quite weird, and almost futuristic.

The first reservations came when the hotel was not finished yet. Vittorio had to deal with both good luck and hard work, and on December, 24th 1964 the hotel was finally ready to welcome his very first Guests.

Since that day, Hotel Montana had been updated almost every ten years. On summer 1972 Vittorio decided to create the West Wing and to make the hotel twice as big as in the beginning.

Latter Days...

In the last ten years, Hotel Montana changed again: part of the hotel was totally restored in 2008, pushing the hotel to a new, four-starred life. We created our Family Suites, doubled the restaurant, built new rooms in the Tower. Together with the swimming pools we created our wellness center, which grew until getting to the actual Montana Wellness size.

We created the auditorium, the boulder gym, the fitness gym and the miniclub. New lifts, new garage, new hotel. In 2015 we finally ended our reborn with the creation of Junior Suites. And the best, is yet to come...
